Absolutely brilliant video … my husband and I were in Berchtesgaden last week, where we stayed for the night, so had a meal and a walk around the town as we were visiting the Eagles Nest the next day. It was so interesting to hear everything you said, although we know quite a bit about WW2 we didn’t really know a lot about Berchtesgaden, so thank you.

When I listened and watched AMW (America's Most Wanted), I heard one elderly man who's a witness about when a prowler had stolen one of the medals of honor. Such as, the flying cross, the bronze star, or even the purple heart. Here's what his response was. "The burglar who took one of those medals of honor, he didn't even spend a day in combat." Supposedly during filming of "The Longest day" in the 1960s they found a sherman buried in sand in shallow water. Since they had a large crew of experienced sherman mechanics and crew members at hand, they simply towed it to the motor pool and drained the water, replaced the gaskets, threw on a coat of paint and fired it up. It became one of the tanks shown in the movie.

A British Sherman Crab flail tank moves west past the church in Creully, Normandy, a week after the D-Day Landings on the 6th June 1944. The purpose of the flail was to detonate mines. The metal flails were sacrificial and could be quickly replaced. This technique is still in use today with some NGO’s around the world.

My friend 's brother in law was born in a small Italian village just after WW11 ended His name was Silvio. Silvio's farher saw the Allied planes flying overhead and vowed to move to America. Decades later, there is an old video of Silvio returning to the house he was born in. They grew their own grapes, and had a veranda wirh a brick pizza oven. From the veranda is a set of covered stairs leading up to the bedrooms. The video shows Silvio and his grandma sitting near the stairs on the veranda. It is the same stairs that that the formidable 4'9" grandma stood down several Nazi troops who were pillaging villagers as they made their way by foot back to Germany. During the war, the Nazis were under orders to behead all baby boys born. Grandma saved Silvio that day.😮
